Innovations in Aging Collaborative: Age-Friendly Pikes Peak

Innovations in Aging Collaborative, a nonprofit organization committed to making Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region age-friendly, engaged Aging Dynamics to conduct a community-driven assessment and action planning process to expand the age-friendly initiative from Colorado Springs to the whole of El Paso County. Diverse stakeholders including community members of varying ages, community organization leaders, government staff and elected officials, and businesses engaged in the community needs assessment and planning process. The resulting community-informed action plan will guide efforts for the next five years.

This endeavor saw the active involvement of a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including community members, leaders, businesses, government officials, and nonprofit organizations, who came together to shape the Age-Friendly Pikes Peak action plan.

Our Approach

Aging Dynamics designed and facilitated an inclusive planning process that prioritized diverse community voices and created extensive opportunities for engagement. Interviews, surveys, demographic research, community listening sessions, and a countywide Summit contributed to identifying and prioritizing the five strategic focus areas in the 2023-2028 action plan: housing, workforce, health and wellness, built environment, and social connections and communications.

Aging Dynamics conducted extensive community outreach to ensure collaboration with multi-sector organizations and businesses representing housing, community planning, parks and recreation, social services, arts and culture, schools, health care, and public health.
