The Initial Ask

Colorado Gives Foundation, formerly known as Community First Foundation, (CFF) engaged Aging Dynamics to provide strategic guidance and subject matter expertise on food security and developing sustainable food systems. For two years, Aging Dynamics met with CGF staff about food systems, emergency food provision, collaboration models, and funding models to guide development of their funding strategy and community position.
Goals

CGF was completing a comprehensive strategic plan and identified food security as a priority. This was especially evident during COVID-19’s food supply crisis in Jefferson County’s diverse geography.
They had two goals:

Increase their impact by leveraging their existing financial resources

Strengthen the Jefferson County, Colorado food system through investment
The Solution

CGF contracted Aging Dynamics to develop the 2021 Jefferson County Food System Network Report. This report was designed to provide guidance for multiple stakeholders including organizations, coalitions, policymakers, individuals, etc. We also made recommendations for CGF and other funders on how to best support a systems-strengthening approach.
