Hunger Free Golden
Hunger Free Golden (HFG) is a 15-member community-based collaborative in Golden, Colorado seeking to address hunger and food insecurity for all community members. HFG is committed to ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusion. As the community began to transition from an emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic and into recovery and rebuilding the collaborative recognized a need for a new strategic plan. Aging Dynamics was engaged to facilitate a community-centered strategic planning process with extensive community engagement resulting in an action-oriented roadmap.
Following the completion of the strategic plan, Aging Dynamics was engaged again for strategic plan implementation, specifically the creation of a Community Advisory Council.
• Member Capacity Analysis: Conducted interviews to assess
commitment, capacity, opportunities and concerns;
• Exploration: Reviewed previous strategic plan, impact report, HFG
member collected data, and other relevant documentation to
identify opportunities and challenges, and voices not previously
included in the planning and collaboration process;
• Community Interviews: eHeld one-on-one or small group interviews
to gain an understanding of the challenges, needs, and ideas of the
community members and participants in the members’ programs.
• Community Conversation: Facilitated an inclusive public event, with
111 attendees, designed to engage diverse community members
(individuals, non-profits, for-profits, and government agencies) in
providing feedback and generating new ideas for the strategic
focus areas and action steps.
• Developed a strategic plan with a detailed implementation plan.
• Designed an inclusive recruitment process for the Community
Advisory Council.
• Created onboarding and training systems and materials including
leadership development, education on hunger and food insecurity,
and inclusive community engagement.
• Facilitated Community Advisory Council.
